So… I Became an Interviewer
Cheers to my wonderful guests, I am so grateful for your time, energy and your kindness. You are a part of MY backstory. Thank you for your heart and how you put it in your music. Remember, someone is waiting for your lyrics and your melody to soothe their soul.
I raise a glass to you and to all that will come after…
more to come.
The photo on the right represents the first 24 artists who trusted me enough to sit down and talk with me—often more openly than either of us expected.
During my first year interviewing on Master/Muse, I kept being surprised by how easily the conversations wandered from music into life. Artists would start by talking about songs and end up realizing—sometimes out loud—how far they’d actually come, how much support they’d had, and how little they’d stopped to notice it along the way. That reflection turned out to be a gift: it gives the listener something real to sit with, and it gives the artist a very deserved pat on the back.
What still gets me is how often a conversation that shouldn’t feel personal suddenly does. I started these interviews not entirely sure I’d be any good at them, and quickly learned that curiosity does most of the work—and that when people feel comfortable and unjudged, the conversation tends to take care of itself.
